hi.

I need to have the windshield replaced, and while I am at it, the rear window as well.

anyone have first hand experience with finding a good source for windshield and rear window glass that worked out well for you? local glass guys say it is hard if not impossible.

thanks!

You need another local glass guy. The windshields are readily available. My wife and I recently installed one in our '56.

I got it from a dealer who goes to swap meets. I think he's out of Dallas. Any automotive glass dealer should be able to get one.

hplacesbf,

do a search for local car clubs, cruise ins... contact them and find out where they get their glasswork done.

Some of them have websites with phone numbers, email contacts or facebook pages...

oldride.com - listing of car & truck clubs in NJ

As for the scouring the various parts vendors, hit the links section here on the 'bolt and click on parts.

Good luck,

Classic Parts of America is who I got all of my glass from. Had a friend stop in to help me install the windshield, I did the rest myself.

You can always take the glass to you local glass shop to install, but I bet if they break it they won't replace it since they didn't provide it...
