I have the original jack that came with the truck, but there wasn't a handle for it. I managed to get a similar one but can't figure out how it attaches to the gas tank straps (?). Does anybody have an idea how it attaches?

Thanks....Rod

The Jack Handles I've seen are the folding type and the long folded part lays on the back half of the top of the gas tank slipped under the strap with the actual handle end under the hold down spring.

It's shown in the assembly manual (Section 14, Page 15).

The manual shows a separate Lug Wrench and Tire Iron. I don't know when they changed, but all of the TF trucks I've seen had the combo lug wrench/tire iron. Maybe only trucks with split rims got the true tire irons (I've never owned one of them)???

Hope this helps,

Mike B smile

Thanks Mike. The handle I have is a folding type, I just couldn't grasp how it was secured. I had an idea it slipped under the strap, but wasn't sure.

Rod, here are some pictures of the handle from my '57. Thought the pix might be helpful.

Instead of threading the folding handle through the tank straps, I secure it with a couple tension springs that I loop around it (available at any hardware store) like bungee cords. You can see from the pix how the hand crank of the handle tucks next to the jack. One spring wraps around the gas filler neck to snug the handle there. A second one secures it to the tank filler strap on the passenger side. Works great.

Matt....I like the spring idea you came up with. Thanks for the photos.
