Does anyone know the screw size for the lock knob on the drivers side door of a '37 half ton? Standard screws don't seem to fit. Looks like a fine thread.

Does the other side have one to take to hardware store? or measure Dia. and count threads. If you have a screw that almost fits but threads are too course, then you know it's the fine of that size screw. Maybe in Canada your stash is all metric?

There is no interior lock on the passenger side door on these things.... From what I can tell it's probably a 5-40, 5-44, or 6-40 machine screw and 3/4" long. None of these are readily available at your local Home Depot. I did try one fastener shop yesterday and a royal A-hole that was in no mood to help find screws for an 80 year old truck was working the front desk. So, I'm hoping someone can confirm the specific screw and I'll find it somewhere.

Would be surprised if they used a 5. Could be a 6 which is only .138 Dia. Just buy one of them all and see what fits, they are pretty cheap. Small and long is also hard to find. Fine is sometimes difficult to find locally.
Unless someone wants to unscrew their 80 year old screw and measure. Engineers try to use the same size for lots of things to save money. Might there be another interior part that uses that screw so you can size it? What head configuration do you think it is? Pan, Flat...82deg...100deg?

I'm pretty sure mine is 6-32. I've got a '40 but they may be the same. I think these are called fillister head machine screws, like the ones holding on the inside handles.

It is a 6-32!!!! There was some crud on the first few threads and it wouldn't go in initially.

The pan head I have fits, but looks stupid. I expect that Dennis is correct and the original was a fillister.

Would be slotted head or clutch head back then I suspect. You will find one on something around the house sooner or later. Or find at Hardware store. At least the knob is on now.
