Welcome Mark! You came to the right site. I'm more into originality but there will be folks along soon that will have the info you're looking for. Good luck with your project.

Some folks replace the Rochester 1 barrel carb with a Weber 32/36 progressive 2 barrel carb. They say performance is better. I have not done it, but I do have the parts. Tom Langdon from Langdon's Stovebolt. sells the carbs and the adapters. He can assist with questions too. Maybe another member here with the Weber already in service will repond with their opinion. I have my Weber in a box ready to get a rebuild and then installation on my 230. Just a thought.

There!s no replacement for displacement. Swap in a 250 ci motor or even better a 292 truck engine.
On the other hand, the 230 I6 and the 283 V8 use the same stroke which means that 283 racing Pistons can be used in the 230. Porting & polishing the head putting in larger intake valves, intake & exhaust upgrades are all viable possibilities.
Are Chevy parts hard to find in the UK?

Unfortunately Tim parts are difficult to get hold of so i end up buying good stuff from the US and then it becomes expensive ie: Just bought a set of rubbers for the door surround from Rock auto and the shipping cost was twice the cost of the parts. What i am prepared to do to get things right :-)
