Are the front fenders for 55-57 Task Force trucks the same between Chevy and GM models? If there are differences are they significant enough to prevent their interchange?

Have an opportunity to pick up some 56 parts to squirell away for a future project or to sell and fund my current addiction.

It would help if we knew what size truck you were asking about? The 1/2, 3/4 and 1 ton 55 - 57 are basically the same, the difference being the GMC has a flat area with a bolt hole right on the lip edge of the grille opening. This is where the GMC grille bolts to. If you want to use a GMC on a Chevy you need to beat the flat spot out to match the rest of the opening. Or if you use a Chevy on a GMC you need to make the flat spot (about 2" x 2"), not a big deal.

If we are talking BIG trucks, all bets are off! GMC has to many models to keep it all straight and I don't think any of them will interchange with Chevy.

The question pertains to 3100 series. It goes without saying that the big bolt fenders would be questionable.

Hello Houston. The fenders are different. But not so different that they can't be made to interchange.

My '56 3200 had a '56 100-250 GMC fender. I didn't recognize this until I pulled the fender and saw the "underside."

My advice would be: if the pieces are solid and the price is good, don't hesitate!

BTW, '55/56 Chevrolet fenders are slightly different from '57 Chevrolet fenders.
