Since a couple of weeks i'm the owner of a Chevy 1952 1/2 ton truck and one thing i noticed was the huge gap between the hood and the cabine.

Anyone knows how i can make the gap smaller?

ps: i ordered the Truck Shop Service Repair Manual but have not received it yet and i can't wait to work on the truck.

If your truck does not have any damage or body repairs that would have changed the gap over time, you can adjust the hood by loosening the bolts that attach the hood to hinges in the engine bay. The hinges should have elongated holes that allow adjustment for the hood itself. It may take a few tries to get the spacing you want and not have any hood latch issues or the gap being narrowed too much rubbing the cabin when opened.

Best to wait for The Book. The procedure is not self-evident. Even with The Book, it can be a head scratcher.
I had best success by writing down the procedure on a piece of paper in my own language. It was a piece of cake after that.
When they mention to put downward pressure on the hood prior to tightening bolts, you will either need a separate set of hands or a heavy weight with a blanket under it.

While you are waiting for your Shop Manual, you could read the "Alignment" section here (starts at the lower right of page).

Carl's advice is excellent.

Good luck - be patient and careful.
