I have a 59 firetruck with factory steel Budd wheels. I want to change to aluminum stud pilot (Budd)wheels. Will I have to change to longer mounting studs due to thickness difference between the aluminum and steel wheel? has anyone made this switch before?

It might work on your steering axle, but you will probably need longer studs on the drive axle. Aluminum wheels are considerably thicker than steel. You will need longer inner nuts for the drive that are designed for aluminum wheels. This is the nut you will need.

The same part number ending in R will be right handed threads.

Hy Icfman, yes you will definitely have to use longer wheel studs, you should make sure you can acquire the longer studs you will need before you purchase the wheels.
