I posted in the driveline section but it might get a little more help here. I'm trying to install power steering in a friends 62 chev half ton and was pretty nervous about trying to get the right box to work with the least mods. I talked to another friend with a 63 and he said he used a 73 blazer unit. so I have one ordered and waiting for it to come in. does anyone have any other tips or a better fit? I will also have a challenge getting the pump mounted since it has a small block V-8 in it with the old heavy horseshoe shaped front engine mount I think maybe from a bigger truck. so not any extra bolt holes in the front of the block to use. - I'll have to fabricate something to work with the engine mount. But if I can get the steering box in righ I'm sure it will work

I discovered this recently and thought it worth sharing. It a YouTube video on electric power steering. Very cool!

you
could install side mounts
what vintage is the engine. do you know whether or not it has the long or short water pump. this makes a difference in what pump and pulleys to use
you can use any chevy 2 whl dr steering box from 73 up to 88/89 and also from crewcabs and suburbans to 91, somewhere around 1980 theey change hose fittings from SAE to metric and that is not hard to rectify
this fellow makes a good steering box adaptor and you will need one to mount the later str box
