I have not relined my truck yet because I have not moved to that part of the restoration, but I reline the tanks in all of my motorcycles and noticed a Huge difference in the frequency of fuel filter changes. I encourage it and will end up doing it soon too.

My 52 sat for several years, and when I pulled the tank it was clean, other than a thin layer of varnish. No rust. If there is rust, I highly recommend using the POR-15 tank sealer, I've put it in one truck, two locomotives and a rototiller so far.
