Okay, so I'm not sure how they got this in to begin with... I'm trying to disconnect the u-joint. It looks like a u-joint for a 3/4 ton, and I'm driving the bushings out of the yoke like the manual says. The problem is that there's not enough clearance to fully drive the bushings out before they contact the transmission housing.
pic 1 pic 2I can only drive them about halfway out. On the 3/4 ton, the transmission housing has some cutouts that allow the bushings to be driven out as shown
here . On my half-ton, the transmission housing doesn't have those cutouts.
So, how do I get the driveshaft out if I can't take the u-joint apart? Do I need to pull the rear end leaving the u-joint connected to the transmission? Is that even possible?
