OK I have a 72 c 50 the rims are 5 and 10 bolt on in center of rim. My question is can I put 8 1/4 20 tire on in place of 9 20 tires?are all the rim sizes the same? There are 10 x 20 tires also on these old trucks are those rims bigger?

A C50 may well have come with 8.25 tires and 9's were installed to carry a little more weight. The wheels really weren't designed for 10's and will cause the sidewalls to bulge out.

Also, if you measure the rim width or find it stamped on the rim you can compare to list of acceptable rim sizes for each tire size. In the back of the Accuride wheel catalog is this sort of general info, follow links to it in the wheel and tire tech tip. Also tire manufacturers list this info for each tire.

Old rule of thumb was, you can go down a size or two no problem, if you're not getting into trouble weight-wise by doing so. Going up, you have to be really careful that the cheeks don't get close enough on the tires to rub. They WILL NOT make babies if they start rubbing their cheeks together wink
