Doesn't look like it would stand a re-crimp and these little cables have to pull a lot of pounds for their size. Weld? I would appreciate any replies as I don't want to buy a re-production because they just look a bit tacky and I want to maintain the original. I did a bunch of them on small aircraft. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 249 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 249 | I did my choke cable by filing shallow notches (avoid sharp v's though - make them rounded) in the wire and then crimp the drilled out end of the rod into them. It works fine and no welding required which I could have done if I thought it was necessary. I think that is how they were originally done as there is no sign of weld or silver solder.

I spoke with a timber supply person who does swaging and crimping for the timber industry and he said silver soldering would be best for this little job c53. Interesting little bit of fabrication you did Gazz, I'll keep your method in mind because it sounds like a great alternative if not the best method to go with. Thanks all for your help in this little fix-it!
