I have a 52, 3800 1.5 ton.. It "seems" LMC carries the 1/2 and 3/4 ton king pin sets, but they won't work in a 1.5 ton.. Does anyone have any info on when I can find them?

Mole, Try using the search function. I know this topic has came up at least a few times in the past. Seems like a good Napa person will be able to find the parts, but you will need to bring in the old parts. You will also need a reamer to run in the bushings after you install them.

Thanks RDomeck.. I'm wondering if the 1/2 or 3/4 ton is the same as the 1.5 ton pins.. I now know the 53 pin is too long, which is what I got from LMC... I'll search some more

Here are specs/dimensions from the Shop Manual

Check not only the diameter of the pin, but also the outer-diameters of the bushings.

I believe if you read through Griggs sticky post at the top of this section you will find some info on the king pin sizes. The king pin sizes will be different on these bigger trucks. I'm just not up to speed on all the different sizes.

Also if you have a truck spring shop locally you could check with them. I purchased my set, 3/4t, from a local shop. Hope this helps . Have fun and good luck

3800 is a 1 ton, and should use same king pin as 3/4 ton. (From memory 0.9something" kingpin diameter)
4400 or 4100 may also have same axle beam as above but uses 5 lug hubs, same King pin as above. (Exception listed below)

6100 and 6400 have heavier axle, 1.109" kingpin, and was a heavy duty option on the 4000 series 1.5 ton.

Napa is an easy source for all king pin kits in question.

Mole, As Grigg stated, a 3800 series truck, is a 1 ton truck. 3100 = 1/2 ton, 3600 = 3/4 ton, 4100 = 1 1/2 ton, 4400 = 1 1/2 ton, 6100 = 2 ton, 6400 = 2 ton, & 6500 = long wheelbase 2 ton.

I recently helped a friend put new king pin bushings in the steering knuckles / spindle assemblies of his 1950 3600 & reamed them to size.
Not as tough as I thought it was going to be.

This was done to a 1950 Chev 3600 3/4 ton .

All nuts & bolts were hit with Kroil numerous

times for ten days prior to dis-assembly.

We snapped ( 0 ) nuts & bolts .
