I have searched and seen where some used 80s van steering columns. What other column have some of you used? It will be going into a 53 gmc panel floor shift. What columns would you go with that doesn't have the ignition on the column? Any advice or links to read is appreciated

I believe the one that Flaming River and others copied for the aftermarket was from a early to mid 70's van. It came as a tilt and non tilt with no key switch.

Cadillac steering columns with all the light switches, cruise control, and wiper controls, telescopic, tilt work well.

As you can see, there are any number of GM columns that will work. Just make sure the length is right to fit your truck, you don't want the steering wheel against your stomach or the instrument panel. You can always remove the column shifter and ignition switch if everything else is right. Mid 70's Monte Carlo worked perfect for my 59
