I removed the flywheel under pan and took this pic: http://s837.photobucket.com/user/daveydouglas/media/broke%20tran%203.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0 Please keep in mind that I know next to nothing about transmissions, only what I picked up from checking out the Sop Manual... Is that broken off portion the front of the transmission case or is it the clutch gear bearing retainer? And any other input is welcomed. Thanks! Edit: fixed link

Was the transmission loose on the bellhousing? That's usually the cause of the retainer breaking there.

Fortunately, those bearing retainers aren't particularly scarce. If you're still running the torque tube 3 speed, I've got a couple of complete transmissions stashed away. Let me know if you need one.

A couple of notes: The Shop Manual said the steering wheel grommet needed to be moved. It did not. It also said the battery needed to be removed. It did, but only to be able to get to the bolts holding the cross member to the passenger side frame rail. However, no mention was made of removing the cross member, which we did in order to drop the tranny.
However, the Blue Funk is back on the road without a leaking tranny with a Big Thanks to Jerry and my stepson-in-law Tim!
