Hello all. I have a '53 3100. I lowered it about 4" and converted it to 4 wheel disc brakes with a 5 on 4 3/4" bolt pattern (speedway front disc brake kit) I am now looking for wheels. The 6 bolt wheels that came on it are 15" diameter, 5" wide and about 3 1/2" backspacing, depending on how it's measured. I'm wondering if those could have been the original wheels? Or would originals have been 16" rims? What are the dimensions of the original rims? I'm also looking for input on what wheel dimensions would fit without any clearance issues. On the rear I moved the shocks inboard of the frame rails and tubbed the box out 4", so I gained a couple inches of clearance on the inside, with the frame being the limiting factor now. I would like the rear wheels a couple inches wider than the front wheels.

I went with Wheelsmith.com when I did this similar thing. I wanted 15's with a narrower sidewall to lower it without making it look lowered. They make vintage looking wheels and even original style hubcaps for them. I felt better knowing I didn't grind anything and modern wheels are made for disc brakes so there will be no issues later. I paid about $94.00 a wheel.

What year and model of truck do you have, and what dimensions did you end up using for rims and tires?
