I need to tweek the T 5 shift lever for a more comfortable shift pattern and was wondering if the lever (not the screw in extension) can be bent in a hyd press without applying heat or breaking. The lever has a nylon part attached to it that I would rather not monkey with.

I have heated and bent many. I just keep pouring cold water on the nylon parts.

Taking it apart for a good cleaning and lubrication is easy and the nylon pivot ball can be easily removed. Then heating and bending is worry free. I made a DIY thread showing the basics of taking one apart when I recently customized mine. To disassemble, clean and reassemble, all you need is a grinder and a welder. You'll want to add some grease after you clean the parts. See my shifter thread LINK HERE.
