The 51 3600 I bought last year has had the rear end gears changed to 3.73 (I'm told) and the truck now runs 6 bolt 15" radial tires on it. Still has 216 and 3 speed trans. I don't know if the driveshaft was or had to be changed when the previous owner changed the rear end. How do I tell which style of driveshaft I have? Thank you in advance. If you can't see it, its enclosed in a torque tube | | | | Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 122 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 122 | if you can see the driveshaft turning while the car is moving the driveshaft is "open". If you can't see these then you have an enclosed,or torque tube, drive line.
It's a small world, but I wouldn't want to paint it.

I have no idea why they came up with such a weird combination but they did. | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,059 Renaissance Man | Renaissance Man Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,059 | So the 3600 actually had a short torque tube and then an open drive shaft.
