I have a 1964 Stepside. There is rust above the windshield where the cab roof meets the cab. Is there a technique/caulk I need to use to reseal the area where the two pieces are joined?

If there is rust and it's not through the metal, wire wheel it down and use Chassis Saver on it. This will stop further rusting. If it is two seams that meet and need to be sealed, try this, it works great.

I have a little more work to do before I use the sealer. I figured there was something out there, but I am a novice. The rust has broken through the metal on the bottom. I will have to do a little repair work before resealing.

It will be a great learning experience for myself and my two boys, 13 and 11.

My father-in-law is a tractor collector and used to be big into antique automobiles (pre 40s), but he is into "preservation, not restoration". I want this truck to be somewhere inbetween.

Sounds like a good test of your fabrication skills. Best case scenario, you find someone who has a parts truck that would be willing to cut a section out for you. Worst case (and not necesarily bad)is you have to fabricate the part yourself. Not sure how big the area is, but it could be small enough to make your own patch or you may end up having to make a patch with some body lines (a little more difficult). You can do it.
