I have an 8" power booster under the floor and vacuum wipers in my '53 3100 with a 235. Will the vacuum draw associated with the wipers cause any power braking issues or will they get along? I don't want any braking problems, and will ditch the vac wipers if necessary. I also read on here that having a non restricted large hose running to the power booster can cause a vacuum leak like symptom when the booster calls for vacuum, and the engine can stumble or die. I have a 3/8" hose going to the booster. Should I restrict it some in a fitting at the intake? If so, to what size? Thanks for any input. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,298 Renaissance Man | | Renaissance Man Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,298 |

Maximum vacuum with the throttle closed. Wiper operation, is also at maximum under the same conditions. How ever,....going up hill stopped mine(the wipers) even back in the day. Alternative is to hook the wipers up to a two stage fuel pump. Leave the brake booster to the manifold. Or convert to electric wipers. That and the possible addition of a vacuum canister to the wiper system to slow down the loss of vacuum under load. Those are all the things I can think of. Maybe others have some suggestions.
