I've started restoring the radio out of my '53 3100. I want to take out the guts then media blast and paint the case. My question is, what color was the original case? I can't tell if it's a very light gray paint or if it's more of a clear coat.

What type of paint should I use to get back to an original finish?

A very light gray would describe the color of the radio in my 53.

Is the hammertone similar to the deluxe heater finish, MT? If so, you can get a pretty good match with the hammertone spray paint sold by Rustoleum.

4onthefloor, the radio color and the header color aren't even close. At least on my machine.

4 on the floor... The Fresh air heater hammertone grey is almost identical to the radio color.
You can get this paint on the top shelf of any Home Depot.
