I'm needing to remove (actually reposition) the crankcase breather tube on a 216 engine. Can someone tell me how to loosen it so it can be removed, cleaned, painted and put back in? Thanks for any advice.

Rock it back and forth while pulling up on it.

If it is really stuck (and you have removed the attachment screw), and cletis's suggestion does not work, you could try to carefully knock it upwards using a short piece of 2'x4' board (slowly/gently/carefully hammer the board upwards against the breather).

Some gentle (yeah, right) hammering and tapping with a small(ha!) hammer and some whispered (NOT) words of encouragement.

Seriously, thanks to you guys for all the help and advice on this and other requests for info !!!
