#11208 06/21/2003 3:48 PM | Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 39 Member | | Member Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 39 | Hey dudes, well I've got this question thats been buggin for quite some time.I have a 1965 half ton fleetside, well my question is what rear end ratios did these come with, or is there a easy way to find out.See I've just installed a Muncie M21 into it out of a 67' so,top speed is 50, 55 downhill that just aint cutting it for me and what will give me the freeway speeds I want, becuase vegas people are always in a hurry.

The rear axle ID is stamped on the differential carrier. It should look something like this (on a 1000 series 1965 Chevrolet truck):
HD 1020
HD = ratio = 4.11
10 = month built = October
20 = day built = 20th day
HH also = 4.11
HA or HC or HE or HF or HG or HQ = 3.73
HB = 3.07
You most likely have a 4.11 and the 3.07 would be nice but I bet it is rare.

I think a 70's chevy will have it but Im not sure, if they do will it bolt right in or will I have to mod some of the fittings.

Tranny isn't going to change your top-speed (unless it's a 3 sp overdrive (optional) or the later T-5 5-speed from an S-10).
My '72 C-10 has 3.73 rear, 3-speed, and 250 six, and will cruise @ 60 all day, will do at least 80 flat-out.....
A ring & pinion chnage might be your answer.

Becuase I dont want to spend any more money for another pair of rims, they are not cheap.I know their are adapters for five lug to six but do they work? Again thanks for all the help
