For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2011 Posts: 264 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2011 Posts: 264 | I know the answer is out there I just haven't found it yet. Is there a difference between the 4 cylinder t-5 and the v6 t-5 other than the ratio's. Is the v6 t-5 built any stronger. I would like to put one in my 3100 and just need to know if it matters. Thanks. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 2,951 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 2,951 | You are correct. The V6 gearing is really the only difference. There will be differences in the case design from year to year.
The case design changed a little over the years. I believe the 1993 S10 WC T5 case is the same as the 1992 Camaro WC T5. The S10 version just has a different tail stock.
So, I think the strongest S10 T5 is the 1993 version. It's the only year the S10 T5 was a WC and had a Muncie case design. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2011 Posts: 264 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2011 Posts: 264 | thanks. I"ll just look for a good gear ratio and leave it at that. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 2,951 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 2,951 | Let me know if I can help. I have several in stock. I find them, inspect, clean and then reassemble with a new input shaft bearing and Jeep input shaft for folks who have trouble finding what they want, or would rather have me find it for them.

Ask me how I know.

Chris Chris, Sorry, but I disagree. You are right for 1994 and up. 1993 was the ONLY year the S10 was WC and had a Muncie pattern. I have pulled many and they all have a Muncie bolt pattern (if they are from a 1993 S10 or S15 or Sonoma). 1992 was the last year for the WC in the Camaro and Firebirds.

All came from 1993 S10 trucks. The S10 T5 with a Ford case pattern you show in the photo is definitely a WC unit. But that doesn't mean that all WC S10 T5s are all like yours. Not trying to be argumentative. Just trying to help folks who are searching for a nice T5 explore their options. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 5,096 Crusing in the Passing Lane | | Crusing in the Passing Lane Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 5,096 | It might be useful to help the new people to tell how to differentiate a WC like in your px from a non-WC, and why. The only reason not to get one like in your px is the Ford bolt pattern.

There are many pages where you can read about T5s. My particular reason for creating the T5 info page is to help folks who want them for their Chevy and GMC trucks.

But now i now what to look for and what it looks like. I am familiar with the chevy bolt pattern. The 1352-145 is an excellent choice. It has the cable speedo connection. I recently delivered a 1352-145 to a fellow bolter here on the Stovebolt. He had me do the Jeep input shaft swap so it will bolt right up to his bell without the need for an adapter plate and he gets to keep his original clutch package. Keep looking and you will find one. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 5,096 Crusing in the Passing Lane | | Crusing in the Passing Lane Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 5,096 |
