It has a "K" pattern footing instead of the "T" pattern. I got mine for $80 bucks on sale.

#11201 08/19/2002 5:41 PM | Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 3,458 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 3,458 | One thing that you can do with long engines is to mount it to the stand from the side of the engine- either using head bolts and a custom bracket or a side motor mount if it has one. That keeps the center of gravity close to the upright of the stand. Or, you can get a diesel engine stand, which is a lot bigger and beefier. Be careful! You don't want to loose any toes.

If it can be done, do like 4onthefloor says and mount it to the side.Just make sure the capacity of the stand is capable of holding the engine weight.

#11203 08/21/2002 2:09 AM | Joined: Mar 2001 Posts: 1,181 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2001 Posts: 1,181 | I have a 305 V-6 on a 1,200lbs engine stand I still have to put a 4x4 under the front, because it sags down a bit, I have aircraft quality bolts grade 8 holding the bellhousing on the block and grade 8 bolts to the engine stand I don't want to find the engine on the floor one day. If you look at my link you can see the 4x4 under the front of the engine. I was foing to build a 4x4 frame to set the motor on but it looked way to pretty up in the air. http://community.webshots.com/user/modelman102 Jake | | |
