Being new, I am unclear as to what this show is. I am just starting rebuild/restore project on a '59 3100 Custom Cab with 283 3 speed. all original so far. Just looking for a tranny. I am hoping to get a chance to see some good examples of restored Apaches. Is this the place to be. Please tell us neophytes a little more information. Times, Place, admission cost, days, sort of a what to expect if I come. I was planning to be in KC over Labor Day but I may want to change plans to the following weekend. Advice anyone???

There is every kind of truck you can imagine, from rat rods to trailer queens and everything in between. Semis, COEs, grain trucks, 1/2 tons, buses, fire trucks, you name it. There will be plenty of trucks in the Task Force group (55-59), so you should be able to get all sorts of good ideas. On top of that, the Stovebolters show up in force, set up a tent and hang out together.

Admission is free, but you can pay if you want your truck to be judged for a trophy. ( I won 2nd place in my category - got beat out by another Stovebolter.)

As Paul knows, I have a hard time finding time, to walk about the show.
Too much going on at the Reunion HQ.
Heck, there is only a small chance I'll even have a truck.
That weekend starts our western vacation, and the wife does not like to drive.

Thanks for the responses.
I think I'll be changing my plans to coincide with the show. I may even have to see if I can get one of my grandsons to join us, as he is a truck and heavy equipment fanatic. From what you described, he would go absolutely bonkers, as will I. All I can bring is photos of our '59 Apache 3100, as it is at the early stages of rebuild. Engine down to bare block and removing all sheet metal to get at frame. Looking forward to meeting some fellow Stovebolters.

Your grandson should love it. There are even monster trucks at the show. It's basically anything goes so long as it's GM. Bring your pics and share them at the tent. We're usually setup near the food vendors. grin

Paul, the show is trucks of all makes. If you want to hang out with the stovebolt gang, it's prudent to bring a GM.

I assume a big bolt 54 GMC flatbed hauling a Honda Gold Wing might not get booted out the gate? Gotta get home some way, and the Jimmy is headed for Denver!

No way you will get booted out and I can haul that truck if need be.
Guess I need to start another topic on roadside help in Mid Missouri.

Okay, sorry this has taken so long. I have the KC info on the index page too, with a link back to here for people to sign up / in.

This is the main website for the All Truck Nationals. In there is the schedule of events, registration form, flyer, etc.

We talked to KCMongo last week and most things this year will be like last year. Major change is that Classic Parts of America (formerly Chevy Duty, for those of us who are still calling it that!) is their major sponsor. Other vendors will be there (like last year). So, you'll get to meet and talk to Jim Carter - a wealth of info. Be sure to hunt down Mongo, too - he's a major playing in pulling off the event, but he's also a great source of info. Tony Smith should be there too, for you 60-66 guys. Tony does impressive work. We visited his shop two years as our "adventure" and it was great.

The Stovebolt group will probably gather in their regular place - have to double check with Mongo on that, but he said most things will be the same.

AND ... camping is a go again this year. So, if you'd like to camp out in the park, you will have plenty of company.

We will post more and hopefully Mongo will post more as things develop.

We hope we can keep this moving. This is always a great show and opportunity to meet fellow Bolters - even if they are not on the site. It always BLOWS ME AWAY how many Chevy and GMC trucks are at this show. It is a TRUCK show ... so we all RULE!!!!

dance

I'm looking forward to the show again this year & seeing all the stovebolters again + the ones that will be there the first time.
I might add, the show is not only Chev/Gmc. All make trucks will be there. Fire trucks & Semi's also. There is a swap meet too.

George

George,

I'm glad you added that. It is an ALL TRUCKS show ... but admittedly there are a LOT of Chevy and GMC trucks. I forgot about the semi's, too. I wonder if Smokey and the Bandit will be there again this year?

I also have to add.
It's not all truck talk.
There is no way I could go without my wife Vicki. She has a great time, because it's not all truck talk
We get to know each other and what everybody does, likes other interests and become life long friends.

What are the odds on finding a head (checked and crackfree) down at the truck show? Just got a call from where I took my block and head to have them checked over and discovered the head
was cracked in a number of places. Cost to repair it could run as
much as $1200. Ouch

Yes, post in the Swap Meet and mention that you'll be at the KC show.

And ... go ahead and post a separate message in the Reunion forum. It's okay. Lots of people bring stuff so someone who is coming may have what you are needing. Don't want to bury it in with the show info.

I can't leave until Thursday so the Aldersons and I are not planning a Thursday event. Maybe someone else can do something,
