You should have at least a small amount of freeplay in the pedal before it starts to release the clutch. If not the floorboard is partially releaseing the clutch. If that is the problem get under the truck with 2 3/4 open end wrenches & adjust the nuts on the clutch link so you have about 1/2 in. free play at the pedal. If that's not the not the problem you need a new clutch. If it is getting oil on it you will need to take care of that also.

We are glad it worked out for you. Stovebolters prefer you don't use all CAPS in your threads. It is considered yelling.

WILLIAM,
Not this Stovebolter.
Yell away brother!
Now if you were to use all lower case letters, I would wonder if you might be as meek as a mouse. smile

Mine has started grinding going into 4th gear. Is this the same issue or similar? should I be looking at something different all together? 1950 3100, 4 spd trans. I believe the transmission is a 1952. The other gears seem to work fine, though it seemed I almost had to be at a complete stop to shift down into 2nd but that has happened off and on in the past so I'm not sure its related.

I should note that if I let the clutch out and push back in between 3rd and 4th gears it goes smoothly.

This is not the same thing. You have a bad syncronisor on 4 th gear in the trans. In your next post you mentioned letting the clutch out in between the shift. This is called double clutching. It was nessesary back before they had syncros in them.

Thanks. I was afraid of that. And I always called it double clutching but someone corrected me once and said there was more to double clutching than that. Can't recall what he tried to explain to me but just in case, I avoid using that term when asking for advice from guys that know more than me. I want to be as accurate as I can.
