I am at the point of painting the inside of my '54 Deluxe 5 Window cab. I am at a loss in identifying the original paint scheme. I know it is two-tone, but I do not know which area/item is the darker color and which is the lighter. How were these paint colors coordinated with the headliner, door panels, visors and garnish mouldings. If anyone can be of asistance I will greatly appreciate the help.

The two standard colors for '54 interiors were either Pulsar Gray (deluxe interior option) or Pearl Beige (standard interior color). Whatever color was originally used, all interior sheet metal was painted one color (black stripes on the dash on either side of the radio speaker holes).

The Pulsar Gray had gray cardboard panels Pearl Beige had medium brown panels.

There were also two-color deluxe interior options (two-tone green or two-tone blue). Special seat covers and cardboard panels were also used with these packages. I once saw a '54 truck with the original two-tone green interior. It was very nice. Two you have the green or blue two-tone interior? I do not know what parts were painted what color in these color schemes.

Steering column, steering wheel, and 3-speed shifter were black.

Thanks for your responses. First, to answer Bill's reply. The truck is a Chevy. My oversight. Second, regarding Tim's reply. I have visited Jim Carters and even spoken to Jim and have been unable the identify the actual paint scheme.

grumps can you get a chip or sliver of paint and take it to your local auto paint store maybe they can help

If your interior paint (cab sheetmetal) is more tham one color (following some "paint scheme"), and it is not the two-tone blue or green, it is possible that your interior color and scheme could be the result of a redecoration that occurred over the years.

It was clearly a re-decoration. The first coat of exterior paint above the rust was Yucon Yellow followed by Blue and the Black interspersed with various layers of rust. The only thing I was able to discern on the interior was Pearl Beige on the gas tank and cab behind the gas tank. There was no evidense of a contrasting color except a dark brown as the deepest layer on the steering wheel. What I now want to do is go with Juniper Green as the primary color. The locations for the dark and light colors in the interior have become the "grail" I am seeking.

I think I get it, now - I'm a little slow (and getting slower).

If you are looking for the interior paint scheme for a two-tone green interior (as done in the two-tone option), I am willing to try to find the name/numer of the fellow that owns the 1954 with that option (it was a beauty - less than 20,000 miles on the vehicle). Let me know if this might help. I may not be able to get the number and the person may not be interested in talking about the truck - but I will try. He is a collector of classic vehicles - I never met him; I met the remarkable person that works on all his vehicles.

I think I am closer. A stovebolter sent me pictures of his unrestored and reasonably original deluxe cab '54. I am still interested in the phone number you offered. If I could see or visit with a collector of a first class original I would try to do so.

I have owned this truck for almost 30 years and my dad had it before that...studied long and hard on the writing on the underside of hood. Tonight it became clear. It says "transport". Question answered as to what the original color was per pic of firewall. Thanks G.H.
