I have a 1954 3100 with a 1956 235 engine with a worn out rocker assembly. I have found a 235 from a 1957 car that has a broken water jacket that was rebuild about 500 miles before the water jacket broke. The valves were ground and all of the valve springs replaced. My question is will the head from the 57 fit on my 56 engine? Could all of the other rebuilt parts be used in my 56 block?
| | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 2,393 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 2,393 | Yes, the '56 and ''57 235 head will swap. If the '56 and/or '57 had a C.I. Powerglide trans, likely they are hydraulic lifters. So different valve adjusting may be needed.
