| | | | Joined: May 2004 Posts: 27 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: May 2004 Posts: 27 | Since starting the restoration of my Canadian 58 stepside I have noticed some differences between the US and Canadian models: For starters, the C. engine color is gray not bluish green (unfortunately I've already painted mine the blue green color, oh well), also the valve cover does not say chevrolet on the top,instead it is just plain. The side view mirrors do not have the imbossed ring on the metal portion of the mirror itself rather are just smooth metal. There seems to be some question as to whether the C. wheels were painted white instead of gloss black. This is what I've found so far, if anyone knows of other differences please let me know (Is it true each came with a hockey puck in the glove box?). Ok, ok,I know pretty bad but seriously to the fellow bolters up north, lets talk! | | | | | Joined: Jul 2001 Posts: 3,887 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Jul 2001 Posts: 3,887 | by 58 there aren't really any differences - the gray engine is 235 or standard 283, blu-green is 261 or heavy duty 283 - I've never seen a TF truck valve cover 6 w/ chevrolet embossed in it, but if it's a 283, the embossed covers were car - not sure what you mean about the mirrors - you may have later replacements, and there were different ones [round or rectangle] - the wheel color is the same as US - trim color [off-white/cream] or body color depending on model and paint options main diff CDN/US is in model numbers - CDN short 1/2T is 1300 series, US is 3100 - go figger - my 57 didn't have the puck, but it had 50,000 miles when I got it, so many games played - my 58, made in the US didn't have a gun in the glove box either! The research I've done definately shows US 235's with embossed "Chevrolet" on the valve cover and Canadians plain. Also it seams that the US coils are painted black and the canadian are bright alum. I have seen 3Can. coils this way so far(all reportedly stock). The side view mirror is the 5" round, the one on my truck is deffinatley original with no depressed ring or "ridge" in the mirror's metal backing like the US have. Our milages are rather close, mine has 60,000 documented miles.
Thats all I have found for now.

Everything I have seen states that wheels were black. Can't remember for sure and books not here at work but possibly wheels were body color on two-tone paint. Hubcaps were Bombay Ivory or variant except on white trucks.
