Until today, I somehow did not realize that I have two of the heavier 1 ton front bumpers. The one I had, and didn't realize it, was mounted on my 55.1 3600 pickup, and has been since before I bought it. It is a standard trim truck, so there was no chrome on it originally. However the front bumper was chrome, and since the truck shows signs of having been hit in the front, the front bumper, brackets, and splash apron were not original. The front splash apron most definitely came from a pre-54 Chevy truck. The chrome bumper in the picture is the one that was on my 55.1 3600, and the painted one is one that supposedly came from a 54 GMC 250. Notice how the chrome bumper seems to be more curved, maybe even slightly shorter than the painted bumper. The bolt spacing, however, seems to be about the same. Anyone ever notice differences between these bumpers? I thought that front bumpers had the same curve from 47-55.1 in Chevy, and 49-55.1 in GMC? Both of these are heavier stock, which measures roughly .25" thick, where as my original 54 rear bumper (all I have for lighter duty reference) measures .15" thick. Can anyone help with this ID issue? When I put my 55.1 back together, I want to at least put the one that's closer to right back on the truck. Is the chrome bumper pre-54?
