The engine is a 235 1962 with hydralic lifters. I was having trouble with the modelB leaking bad &running rich i found a carter online & did it over.no leaking ,ran like crap.& hard to start. I got desperate because a car thing was coming up so i bolted the nos carb on &WOW this truck never started &ran like it does now.Since i do not go very far like a trip, just around town i am going to leave it on the engine for good. I can not believe how much better this engine runs. Am i doing any harm to the motor with the nos carb. It sounds like the engine might have been running a bit rich before and leaning it out woke it up. Unless you encounter very white-burning spark plugs or other evidence of a too-lean mixture, go for it!

Also the internal passage between the power ball and the jet is bigger. If you don't end up with a way too rich condition, you will be very lucky. More air yes, more fuel YES.
If its a valued truck and you drive it a lot, get a 235 carb and then sell the 261 carb. They are worth a lot because they are very rare. I just went through this very thing. I had a 261 carb on my 235 test engine and didnt know it. I could not figure out why I had soot everywhere! If you can adjust it where the plugs are gray, you are doing better than me. | | |
