Cad plating is going away within the next couple of years due to environmental restrictions. My company used to use cad plated screws in assembly and had to switch to stainless steel. This is fine for corrosion protection but the production lines were relying on magnetic pick and place, so differant equipment had to be used.

I stripped the paint I put on earlier off ( chemically ) and installed them Monday. As I said originally they look just like the bolts and screws you buy at Lowes Pretty silver color and not at all like hot dipped galvinized bolts.
I'll let you guys know how well they hold up here in Texas with out paint.

The hot dipped plating looks a bit differant, you can see various patterns in the metal and it's not shiny. I would expect your hinges to rust in a couple years.
