howdy all

i've got a '59 2-ton from illinois, now known around my friends and family as the land of rust. lotsa holes and patch panels needed, but mostly in the road-salt areas. here's the catch tho - that big truck front end....

the hood was totally unrusted, and i now have a set of good fenders to replace the hopeless originals. but that panel between them, behind the grill proper.... what's it called, a grill panel?

anyway, on to the question. the part number is different between the 'big' and 'little' trucks for this piece. BUT, alot of it looks the same. upper section where it meets the fenders for example. what i want to know is, is the bottom the same? i'm thinking maybe the big truck fenders are 'deeper', but looking at pictures, it's possible the bumper just covers the thing on a smaller truck. i'd really, really rather be able to start with a replacement for a small truck and nip, tuck, widen, etc, than have to fix what i've got.

there are a couple '55-'57 pickups in the area, but i haven't seen anyone with a '58-'59 to compare with. anyone got one and feel like doing me a favor?

Would you be talking about the grill support? Email me with more specifics and maybe I can help.
