We should be staying at the Econo lodge in North KC.
They have treated us real good in the past.

And Chuck, don't worry about bringing a truck, just be there.
You will meet a lot of great people from all over US and Canada, Maybe even some from across the great pond. You never know.

Just a Heads up guy's we will not be at the Econo Lodge this year, they have picked up a contract from one of the Railroads and are already booked solid. I'll let you know as soon as we have a new hotel location locked down.

Good morning from a "newbie" in Iowa

I'm thinking about making the drive down to the show and I've looked at the flyer and photos here.

Is this a big show with numerous parts for sale/swap?
Will there be dealer displays?
How many people normally attend?

So sorry for the questions, but before making the drive I was just curious about what to expect.

Won't be driving my '48 Chev 1/2 down yet, I'm in the process of a major restoration and the worst part maybe remembering where everything belongs once I get to the reconstruction/assembly process.

Thank you
Jeff

Yes there is a swapmeet area and venders.
Some of the vender owners will be at our HQ a good part of the day showing off some new idea's.
If it's a nice day there will be over 200 trucks there.
Live band from 6 to 9 Friday evening for the cruise-in, usually a rockabilly sound.
We should have some "how to do it clinics" Saturday also.
The Stovebolt meeting that you will not want to miss, saturday afternoon.
Also the after show meeting back at the hotel, which has yet to be determined.
As for how many Bolters are there, it's hard to say since there is so much going on at HQ, but we usually win the show attendance trophy.
It's not just a show, it's about meeting fellow Bolters and getting to know their families and who they are.
Trust me it is a busy weekend and the wife and I have a hard time getting away to look at all the trucks.

Thanks so much for all the useful information. It sounds as if it's a great and educational time. The how to clinics sound very interesting also, I need all the help I can get. Are the clinics posted somewhere?

No clinics are planned yet.
I may not be doing one due to our western vacation kickoff that weekend and may not even have a truck there.
George "Wrenchbender" usually has something to show how to do.
Very sharp guy on about anything.
Guess I need to start another thread.
Oh, you are added to the list.

Thanks

Sounds like a interesting time to be had.
Not sure if my chemo will be letting me travel.
All I have to do to get wife wanting to go is to mention Arthur Bryant's and she will be packed.
Trunks not ready at least the current one, but may be in line for number two truck and it is supposed to run just needs a tank cleaned.

Jeler, hey Jeff in Iowa I used to live in Solon many years ago if I make will definitely have to say a hello.

Don't worry about bringing a truck just try and make it.
As for your wife. The first time, I went stag, not knowing what to expect and I had a great time. When I got home I told the wife "You have to go to this". I can't go without her now.
Infact, if I get laid up for some reason, I can see her going without me.
The next year, the group went to the original Arthur Bryant's for dinner.
This will be my 6th year attending and we plan our vacation around it.

Our thoughts are with you on your treatments and hope you can attend.

I will do my usual and be there on Saturday. Wife and I of course.

I have an idea for future KC's but can't do it this year. I have an idea about bringing my test engine on the stand with the start kart and just letting anyone play with it for whatever purposes you want. I have a very small trailer that would work, but I have lots of maintenance to do on it. Lots we could do, like an Ignition class, Carb class, valve adjustment, demonstrations, etc, etc. Let me know what you guys think. We can even add a tranny on it, or have a clutch replacement class if we want.

Alas I won't be able to attend again this year. I'm still serving my two year sentence in Kuwait. :-) It will probably be 115 degrees here while you guys are enjoying the cool weather and barbecue in KC. I'm on for next year though.

Deve;

That sounds like a fantastic idea!! I'd add diagnostics with a vacuum gauge to your list of classes. Hopefully you can pull it off for next year when I'm there.

Thanks

Just made my reservations at the Hyatt. I am planning, as of now, to drive my '51 1/2 ton from AZ to the show. Figured it would make a fun trip, avoiding the interstates as much as possible. One question for those of you familiar with the show... if I enter my truck in the show, can I drive it out at the end of the day (Saturday), since it is my mode of transportation to the hotel. Or can I bum a ride from someone back and forth? Some shows (e.g. ATHS) don't allow you to come and go as you please.

Hi Kent, there are always lots of rides to be had back and forth. Also, you can drive out at the end of the day as well. You can also drive your old truck in without officially entering in any competition. How many miles is it from your place to the show?

Leo,
1200 miles one way. I plan on taking 3 days each way, taking my time, seeing the sights on the way, driving just during daylight hours. My truck is all stock and I have owned it about 15 years and put 10,000 relatively trouble free miles on it. I decided it was time for me to go for it.
I am not really interested in competition, as this is an older restoration.

Hey All,

Took awhile longer this year to get all my ducks in a row!!! You can count us in!!! That's me, my son, D-200(David), The Driver (Joe), possibility of another friend, and Maters Cousin....... who may be bringing a tag-a-long!

We will be doing, the camping thing again, as that seems to work really well for us!

Excited to see everyone again!

See ya there,

Frank! I was wondering about you and "da boys." I need to get a thread going about camping so other folks will know. I think I mentioned it somewhere but it would be good to have a specific thread. Maybe once I get it there, you can throw in some extra details about the camping spot, since you all did it last year.

Glad you will be there! Sounds like things are pulling together. That's what we love about this group!!
