The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Driveline Speedometer gear in 59 Apache 3200

Anyone know what speedometer gear fits the trans tail shaft in a 59 3 speed? Mine is either missing or broke. The side gear that the cable hooks to is a 20 tooth and looks to be in good shape. Since I'm putting a new clutch in I thought I might as well put new gaskets, seals and that gear in as well, if I can find one, And clean the inside of the trans.

Ok Finally had time to pull tail shaft. Drive gear was still there but smooth with no teeth like it had been ground down with a grinder with no sign of teeth at all. The other gear is steel and looks to be in good condition. The local shop wants $150 to remove the old and install the new gear so I think I may look for another trans and pull the shaft if the speedo gear is good.

I found another shop today that will pull the gear for $1 per minute with a minimum of $20 if I can get the gear. So now I have to find a right gear. Anyone know a place to get one

No, I don't know who has the gear, but I still have a rebuilt Saginaw 3 speed for sale. You can see it in the parts for sale section.

Thanks Jon but that's the wrong gear. The one I need is a steel gear that is pressed onto the trans tail shaft. I think the GM part # is 3760350. There is a # 3760345 on eBay but I don't think it will fit.
