i've known some guys who will only buy things like rubbers and door seals from a certain vender. others say it mostly makes no difference, its all about the installer's skill. i even recall one catalog saying their door seals used the "correct" die/form to make the seals they sold, which stopped you from having to slam the doors. but cant recall who that was or if it was really true.

im going to be ordering new door seals and new front/rear windshield seals for my 53 pickup.

brothers, LMC, jim carter, classic trucks, etc, etc. etc.

anybody have a firm reason to buy a seal/rubber from one vender in particular?

Steele for sure. I bought two sets of door and window rubbers from two other vendors and they were either too hard or not the right profile.
Steele is a little more money but, the fit is correct.

I too like the Steele products. I don't think I've heard anyone here not liking the quality and fit.

mine came from Classic Parts over two years ago and have worked great...at a reduced price. However, I can't say you'd get the same results in todays world?

I used Steele for my windsheild. Had professionals install the glass so it wouldn't leak. Well, it leaks! Rockford Glass says the stand behind their work and will come back out to repair. Point is, on the old trucks there is no guarantee that you will not have a leak regardless of who or what seal you use. The old trucks were marginal at best on tolerances and proper fitment. If you throw enough 3M sealant at it eventually it will not leak! Good luck on that.
I used Classic Parts door seals and they were fine. A little tight for the first week but worked themselves in. Take your time on the installation. Doors off is a must to do a proper job. Be clean and neat and you will get good results. There is a good video on u-tube on the process.
