So I've spotted a 46 panel near my home and i'm wondering what is a fair price to offer for a rough basket case vehicle. (1/2 the parts are missing and the metal is very thing in alot of places) I dont really "need" a new project but if i can get it for a deal I might take it...what are the ranges I should pay for it? (low-average-high)

I'm also debating possible just taking the body (no fenders, frame or hood) its missing the back doors too.

I know how to price the trucks but i don't know the values of panels trucks...what would you guys value this thing at?

If it does and it is that bad scrap metal price. Because whether you rod it or restore it that car will eat through your money faster the split battery acid on your favorite clothes.

We are having to use our imagination from very little info and no pictures so....free-$200. If more than that, I would absolutely pass it up. There is nothing left except yard art. You are correct, you don't need it. It will not make you any money and you will never finish that large of a project if you have others to do. You are like us all, you are heading into hoarder land. You realize you are in MI right? When you pick it up and move it out of the undergrowth, it will all fall apart to dust. Old crusted metal has zero scrap value. They won't take it.

Just picture the body with no fenders, no front or back doors and no front end and no frame and in average condition...the body is only the part I need but I'd take tho I'd take the whole thing if the price is right. Front end parts/ engine is shot, I'm not even worried about it tho, i got all that. And I absolutely agree this is hugely subjective to appraise on the blind but thats why i'm here consulting with all the knowledgeable people here

I agree with your opinion 100%, it'd take it for $200 all day but at the same time you can barely get a fender or none the less a standard cab for $200, then you see stuff in classifies that are like 6k projects, I guess what concerns me is every where look is a huge disparity in price, that why I'm looking for lots of opinions

you brought up alot of stuff to think about tho, although i dont think I've obtained stovebolt hoarder status yet considering they all do run but maybe some day I'd like to fill the back 40 acres with trucks!

I have learned on the Stovebolt that rear Panel fenders are valuable. I'm not sure from what you said if it has any fenders, or a hood or a frame? Not sure what THE NEED is in "the body is only the part I need". If you NEED it, then the decision is different than your first post "I dont really "need" " ??????
I suppose you are saying you don't need another project but have enough parts to build a panel if you get a body. So you have 46 rear doors, panel seats, rear fenders, rear bumper, front doors, gas tank, frame, running gear ???? It is more valuable to you if you have the parts to finish, that's for sure.
I will say that it is very old and good bodies would be very hard to find. I don't think a lot of panels were made/sold to public in 45/46, just after WWII ended. 90% chance it was a military vehicle "left over"/surplus. How do you know it is a 46?

That exactly what I want to do, use up left over parts, got pretty much everything you listed except the rear doors.

Assuming the front doors and the 3/4 ton frame would work with a 3/4 ton panel too (or with modification), I'd be pretty much set

There is no price list for this stuff. Gotta just find doors near enough to avoid shipping. Start watching Ebay and craigslist in surrounding towns. Put a wanted in Stovebolt. You already know they are not plentiful. You need to know what years will fit, 41-47.1 ???
BTW: Do you know that truck cab doors are not the same as Panel/Suburban doors?

The doors are different than pickup truck because of the moulding/body line at the top, which needs to blend with the side moulding/body line on panels and Suburban's. Truck doors do not have that feature.
You can see it in the link I provided. See the TOP of door. I am not an expert on these whatsoever, I am just remembering what others have said. Just google trucks and panels and you will see...or look in the gallery here.

I would pass, there is a great one on e-bay,right now. In Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Much better truck and value.
