I just got through buying a Truckstell on eBay just because I thought it was cheap.

I have a 54 GMC LWB that I was converting to OD like I have been playing with for over 50 years, but since this Truckstell entered the picture, I might change my plans. A BW OD is hard to beat, but I like things that are a novelty. I know nothing about Truckstell, and don't even know if it is complete. Does anyone have experience with these things.?

I have worked on a few Trucksell in the past. The biggest problem is finding parts for one.

Is that Truckstell unit for an enclosed driveshaft or for an open driveshaft? I know almost nothing about Truckstell units, except that I have a closed driveshaft Tip-Toe-Matic unit (from a car). I cannot bring myself to cutting the torque-tube to install the overdrive.

Please let us know how your installations proceeds (with photos, if possible).

I am anxious to see the thing. I've never actually seen one, but I was aware that some were installed on Chevs around here. A BW overdrive was the simple way to go 120 on the highway and still be able to smoke the tires aroun town with 3.89 rears behind a Y-Block. So far things have gone too good which kinda scares me. eBay sent me a $20 off coupon code for that day on a $100 or more purchase which worked and the guy is shopping for cheaper shipping and promised to refund the difference. I bought a copy of a Truckstell pamphlet on the same day. If they send it media mail, the part will probably arrive before the pamphlet.

I'm real curious to see how this goes. I heard about these in the 1960s but never saw one. Good luck!
