on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jun 2015 Posts: 2 Moderated | | Moderated Joined: Jun 2015 Posts: 2 | Hello Everyone! Does anyone know where I can get the bushings to increase my hub size from 4.75" to 5.25"? I have a 54 1.5 ton with the smaller hub size and 6 extra rims that have 5.25" centers. I am also looking for the clamp plates mentioned in the wheel tech tip. I've tried looking googling but have come up empty. Thanks in advance.

The clamp plates you'll find used on most of these old trucks. Not sure people give them enough thought to try and sell them, bet a lot go to scrap. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 430 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 430 | BigRigE, If you can't find someone locally I can cut some and ship them to you. Probably a 2 week turn around as out laser is super busy at the moment!

Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,878 | What is the tolerance and finish on the laser cut parts? Front bushings would be nominally 1/4" thick, and rears about 1/2", perhaps a little more if the wheel centers are much more than 1/4" each. Would they then need truing up to size on a lathe? I think you want a pretty good precise fit, at least I would. Another option is http://www.warricktubing.com/I bought a piece of seamless steel tube listed as 4.75" ID and 5.25" OD from them last year along with some stuff for another job. I have not really measured or checked it out to see if close enough fit to just cut off slices of it or if needs a little machine work, or if there is even enough material to machine.. If not then you could buy from them a somewhat oversize tube to turn and bore to what you need. Might be cheaper and I'd think a lot easier than starting with a solid bar or burnt out rings. It would be easy to burn them a little under/over and lathe them down, but would of course ad to the cost. I can't imagine that .003" would be any less tolerance than the wheels have?
I'll price out making some washers and see what direction would be good to go with.

The truck came with three 20x6.0 rims that are three piece and three 20x4.0 two piece rims. I think the 4.0 wide rims should work with my new 7.50 tires but would like to have options if something were to go wrong down the road.

Search for 1/4" Steel Ring x 5.25" OD x 4.75" ID, A36 Steel. Lumberjack1983 is selling these rings for $6.60 plus shipping as of this writing. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 5,096 Crusing in the Passing Lane | | Crusing in the Passing Lane Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 5,096 | Rings also need method to retain to keep from walking out!

The ones I had made fit pretty tight, but I tacked them to the hub in a couple of places. They really don't want to go anywhere. I just bought 16 of them and the shipping was $8 for 16. That is the same as for one. | | |
