Has any one setup and used the Fish carburetors on a 235. I did not see any posting so was hoping some one has tried these and mated them up.

I have looked at both the Fish injector and even looked at the IMCO propane, the IMCO I have done on several vehicles and and is a very nice way to go, it use of LPG (or natural) make for clean burning, safer on pistons and valves and in some states qualifies for discounts. But draw backs are filling station locations and tank swap to the pressurize propane or LP tank (but a lot of option exist.

But I have so far not had any chance to use a Fish injector body carb. so would like to hear feadback on them.

The Fish carb has a place in NASCAR history.

My mentor in the carburetor business did an extensive test on a Fish carburetor some 40 years ago. An ex-marine, his language was quite colorful at times, and got that way when discussing the Fish.

We sell FULLY RESTORED TO ORIGINAL CONDITION Fish carburetors. They are guaranteed to work as paperweights, display units on the wall, etc., but NEVER as a carburetor.

But many still want to believe that one would get 197 MPG on a 6 cylinder Chevy or 78 MPG on a 440 Chrysler motor home (both of which would violate the natural laws of physics).

The best advice I can offer is do your own test. Then you can write your own article (which will be disregarded by the true believers)!

Jon.

Precisely as I remember then back in the day when I was a
teenager Jon. I dint want to be the first one to burst the
bubble though.
Ridiculous claims that defied all logic. Those ran in the
same gang as the devices that converted water to hydrogen
to run your engine. I believe Bob Fish used to run ad's in
Popular Mechanics and Popular Science regularly.
I sat thru an hour long seminar at the EAA flyin at Oshkosh
back about 1985, where the presentation was introducing a
device that was similar in mpg claims but it was a hydrogen
generator. It was cheaper that conventional fuel injection
or carburetors and all you used for fuel was water.
Even though I knew it was impossible, if I recall, I even
took notes because the hawker made it sounded so believable.
Don't know to this day why the organizers let him have a
tent for a hour. Weeds might have even sat in to hear that one.
Anyone hear snake oil for sale????

The Fish actually did fairly well in NASCAR. Why? Because the venturi area of the Fish was approximately 40 percent GREATER than the venturi area of the carburetor it replaced. Drill out the fuel passage, and as long as the engine ran ONLY at wide-open throttle, the engine with the Fish had an advantage.

Part-throttle response was virtually non-existant. So, if you didn't get lapped before you got up to speed, you had an advantage.

I have never figured out why the NASCAR inspectors allowed these units.

For street driving, the lack of part-throttle response is downright dangerous.

Oh, and in my mentor's test: the street he lived on was higher than his garage. He had to start backing the car into the driveway, as there was insufficent power in reverse to back out onto the street. Using first gear forward, he was able to get out of the driveway.

Jon.

Thank you
interesting thoughts, I had never seen any negative info before but then have only seen one installed on a VW years back seemed to run OK.
As I stated I have much more direct experience on use of IMCOs on cars and trucks.
