Jul 21st, 2025 | | | | Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 53 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 53 | I have an issue with my splash aprons not fitting between the cab and rear fenders, from the looks of everything it appears the cab has to be moved forward. Any idea on how much play I would have in the cab movement and would I just loosen the cab from the frame and front fenders to move it forward?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Was the bed changed some where along its life or maybe the rear fenders?
It would seek easier to move the rear fenders first and the move the whole bed before touching the cab.
Or those aprons are the wrong parts.

| | | | | Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 53 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 53 | Thanks for the replies, but since the splash apron is bolted to the running board and the running board is bolted to the frame, because the bed is independent of the frame moving the bed will not help with the issue of gap between the splash apron/running board/frame and the back of the cab. Either the frame moves backwards or the cab moves forward to gain more gap between the two or at least that is the way I am seeing it. Am I missing something?

If the cab and bed looks correct and seems to be in the right location maybe you have the wrong aprons. If everything looks right maybe you can trim the aprons to fit. On my 4t6 the apron is connected to the running board which is connected to the fender which is connected to the bed. Kinda like the nursery school song the hip bone connected to leg bone......

On the right side i had to pull the fender fwd about 1 inch to get everything to line up. The cab and the bed all lined before i started. You have to remember these old trucks did not fit very good from the start. After i got everything bolted to gather, which was a fight, everything looks OK.
