The front end is in good shape with the hubs and bearings spinning nicely. Rear end turns but the passenger rear brake drum will barely turn; seized to the shoes. Just trying to get an idea of what they are worth. And not sure of the gearing. I also have the front leafs that i took off.

thanks

If that's a GMC, wouldn't that be a series 150 rather than a
3600, which would indicate that it's a Chevrolet?
It's worth trying to find someone that will come over and haul
it away, to save you the trouble of making a trip to the scrap
yard.
There are so many of these trucks that have been upgraded to
modern rear axles and independent front suspension that they
are a dime a dozen with a little asking around.
If you are lucky you may find some off road guy that would
take the rear axle. The the only parts of the front end that
my be of interest to someone would be the drums, that is if
they were not shot.
Sorry, I know you might have thought you had a nugget but
they're just boat anchors unless you get real lucky and find
the right guy.

You will probably have the same problem with the 228 if
you're replacing it, which if you're up grading the
suspension, I can only assume you would be doing the
power plant also.

Well im sure sure what you are talking about on this. The truck is a GMC and its a 3600 as indicated on the side of the hood and it being a 3/4 ton truck. So yeah im sure its not a Chevy.

I like putting money back in my pocket so ill take it in if no one wants it.

No i dont think I have a nugget just wanting some advice on what they might be selling for.

RGG,

Some clarification:

Thread title:
"'51 3600 GMC"

Denny's statement of fact:
"If that's a GMC, wouldn't that be a series 150 rather than a 3600, which would indicate that it's a Chevrolet?"

Your statement of fact:
"The truck is a GMC and its a 3600 as indicated on the side of the hood and it being a 3/4 ton truck. So yeah im sure its not a Chevy."

Most likely you have a Chevrolet hood and side-emblems; or, you have a GMC hood with Chevrolet side-emblems.

What does the emblem on the front of the hood look like?

As you most likely know, the
1951 Chevrolet truck grill looks like this, and the
1951 GMC grill looks like this.

The front brake drums and rear brake drums might be worth more that scrap, if they are in good shape.

The front spindles/knuckles might be worth more than scrap, if the king-pin bushing journals (not the bushings) are not wallowed out.

Front axle is good for the rat rod gang or maybe the vintage stock car guys to have for their next project...rear axle maybe try and sell the drums and backing plates to someone doing a restore...I scrapped my 3800 rear end...I did keep the front axle...not sure why but I did...

whats the stuff worth???..gosh whatever you can get for them...craiglist ad and see what they sell for...

my 2 cents

The grill looks like the 51 GMC and i stand corrected on the side emblem. It wasnt a 3600 it is the gmc with the red stripe underneath. Thanks for the clarification
