on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: May 2003 Posts: 213 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2003 Posts: 213 | Greetings! I'm working on a (couple of) 53's, and would like to find a good paint code, or at least one that will work for the gray/silver used in the 53's interior. I'd like to use PPG's single stage DCC to do the job. Also, I know 40319 is the formula number for Forrester Green, but it does not translate into the DBC system. Does anyone have a number for Forester (or even Juniper) that can be made in DBC or DBU? I got a cross reference code of 46296, but it looks way too light when I paint it, so that's not it. HELP!!!! | | | | | Joined: Aug 2000 Posts: 587 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2000 Posts: 587 | The PPG number I have for forester green is 40519, a little different from yours, but I had some made up, and it is very dark, matches the old paint chips I have that are in very good condition. I have a PPG number for what I am told is 47-52 truck interiors, it is 3613, but I had some of that made up, and was not happy with the color, I think that number is wrong. So I got some from Chevy Duty, which I am happy with. I notice they say it is for 47-53. No paint code on the can. | | | | | Joined: May 2003 Posts: 213 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2003 Posts: 213 | Sorry, you're right on the Forester code number, but I still can't formulate it. I'm taking a class and could make it myself if I knew the DBC formula. I'm holding out hope that somebody has a good DCC formula for the interior. I've got a color I may work with. My dad was a big gun collector and a lover of AD chevy trucks. The color I'm looking at is a newer chevy color named gunmetal poly. I can't imagine a more fitting combination on a tribute vehile. I'd be happy to pay for the formulas if I could make both myself. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | I do not have PPG (Ditzler) codes for 1953, but the Dupont code for "Sheen Gray Metallic" (the interior color for all 1953 trucks, except the Suburban) is:
DUCO Stock Order Number: 740 DUCO Code: 202-81407
The following phone numbers are 5-6 years old. I hope that at least one number is still good:
PPG Refinish Technical Services: 440-572-6111 PPG Refinish Color Library: 440-572-6100 PPG Refinish Color Library fax number: 440-572-6871
