You need to disassemble the column from the top. Steering wheel etc. even the top bezel comes off to allow the column to come out the bottom. Good Luck

Others suggest taking the steering weel off and unbolting the box+column from the frame after marking the position of the pitman arm. Then slide the box plus column out of the hole in the firewall.
