Steering wheel etc. even the top bezel comes off to allow the column to come out the bottom. Good Luck Paul 1958 PU

Others suggest taking the steering weel off and unbolting the box+column from the frame after marking the position of the pitman arm. Then slide the box plus column out of the hole in the firewall. It will make your assembly easier and not require a repack of bearings inside the actual steering box. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 30 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 30 | HEY GUYS ,,, thanks for the info..I was thinking the same when i started to unbolt everything ..but i wanted to confirm my guess!!!!I hope that i didn't screw up the gear box...i'll try and put it back together...you guys are awesome!!!alot of help to a NEWBIE!!!......LOL.....HOUSTON54'S pickup looks like that it is comming right along......I'M hopeing to have a rolling truck come this summer.....I stopped working on the house so that i could focus on the truck this winter ....BURRRRRRR...
