Seen this on Craigslist & contacted the guy who's going to being doing Marge, since I don't need another project but knew he's always on the look out for projects to save & restore. He asked me to go look at it & possibly pick it up for him. Long story short I drug it home w/me after sending him picture of it. Oddly the platform for the seats was only on the drivers side, so it must have been planned to be a small bus from the beginning.

"Oddly the platform for the seats was only on the drivers side, so it must have been planned to be a small bus from the beginning."

How far across does the seat platform go?

On a normal Suburban, the driver and middle-passenger seat platform goes about 70% across towards the right side. The right-most passenger-seat (that pivots forward) in the 47-55 Suburban is attached to the floor, not a platform.

Good find. Let us know if your friend takes it on as a project.

thumbs_up didn't know that Tim, thanks for educating me on that. I do know it was a school bus because of the writing on the side & back. Inside is gutted, but I've seen some of the stuff this guy has done & this burb/bus is in better shape then some of the others he's saved.

It looks 'very restorable'.

Doubt it'll be restored since as far as I can tell he doesn't restore the trucks. It'll either be put on a late model frame truck frame w/all the modern stuff or cut up to save another one or to built something. As I have seen him say, "Stock stuff doesn't make the money"....joe

What....Only 3000 miles? Lucky you,I've got a 3000mile wide flippin' big puddle in the way! grin

I'm astonished at PMKs ability to turn these trucks round as fast as he does.
Seems like a decent guy to deal with.

He stands by his work too.
