Greetings Stovebolt and fellow truck brothers,

I've been looking around for the last few days seems like a great board to be part of, glad to be here.

I have a '55 1st Series GMC 3/4 Ton 5 window 4x4 Truck. I'm currently working on rebuilding and painting the whole truck. I am facing few difficulties finding the right color in mind for the truck. Can any one help me out getting the name, color code or the color formula for the truck in below pictures:

Ahmed,

Welcome! I too am just starting on a 55.1 truck and I am really excited about it.

It looks like the exact color is not original. Something you might call "robin's egg blue"

If you are looking for something exact, here is a link to an awesome website dedicated to our era of vehicles. It has all of the factory paint options for the '54(also including the 55.1), It looks like Ocean Green might be the closest...

I hope this helps,

Danny

Transport Blue (the color on my website is darker than the original color - scanner and display distortions). Windsor Blue was the similar light-blue used from 47-52.

These colors are also darker than original, but you can better see differences between colors.

Ahmed,

You have a beautiful truck.

Can you post a link to a photo of the dashboard?

You indicate 1955-1st series but the only two features that are 55-1st "indicators" are the hood bird and the two-tone exterior color.

Is there a metal tag between the hinges on the driver's side. If yes, please post the code that is on it.

Thank you very much for your responses.

The pictures are not for my truck but I'm looking for the color of that truck to paint mine like it.

I could be wrong but the color looks like 55-57 Chevy bell air - tropical turquoise.

Regards,
Ahmed

Ahmed,

Your first post did state: "I have a '55 1st Series GMC 3/4 Ton 5 window 4x4 Truck."

The photos you posted are of a Chevrolet truck. It has:
- 47-53-style grill
- 47-53-style pickup bed
- 47-53 windshield
- 51-53 doors (also used in 54/55)
The truck has a lot of custom trim and custom add-ons.
It is a beautiful truck.

Is it a 4x4 (four- wheel drive)?

The metal ID tag in your last post is for a GMC truck. I do not know what the "8100" refers to.

That is a very impressive tag. Maybe someone recognizes it - it does not look the 54/55 GMC tags that I have seen.

Maybe someone else has ideas/speculations?

Thanks, DADS50

I was in la-la land.

The paint-color information is given in earlier posts.

If it is a 53-55 color, it is Transport Blue.

I don't think that is transport blue. Transport blue is a little darker.

So, not Transport Blue and not Mariner Blue.

It does not look any of the shades of green I have seen.

It might be the earlier Windsor Blue?

Just pick a blue (green) shade that you like.
