He said he uses crushed glass and adds a rust inhibitor (hold tite) to inhibit flash rusting. His experience, without it...flash rust in 30 min's, with it, have 2 days to dry and hit with primer before flash rusting. Best thing for me is he comes to your house for about the same price and dry media blasting. What do you guys think? Blaster

Their claims of removing 'contaminates' left on the surface while cautioning about ph of water leads me to suspect a 'no streaks' dishwasher soap will do the same thing.
The key is the water used... hard water is going to be problematic no matter what you do...

Joined: Apr 2002 Posts: 2,168 | Kind of on topic but off at the same time...My brother's friend operates a business that blasts in hazardous locations in the oil field. Compressor stations, batteries, treater facilities,etc. What he uses is kind of neat. They use dry ice pellets. Blasts things clean, no mess, no clean up, only catch is it requires operator to be fully supplied with breathing air. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 76 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 76 | I used a local souce for dustless blasting and was very pleased with the results. The parts came back without any residue at all on them. I haven't had time to prime them yet because of focus elsewhere on the truck, but will say they haven't flashed over yet after being in the house for 3 weeks. They'll be painted tonite. | | |
