Well now I did it - bought a 54 ice cream truck Always wanted a convertible 3100.

Now trying to find any info on these trucks. An assembly manual or plans for the freezer body would be nice. Or photos, if anyone has worked on one?

The truck is a standard 3100 that was delivered to a body manufacturer as a windshield cowl and chassis only (a "3112"). It has a rear gas tank, since the compressor sits in the open cab.

This one is not a Hackney freezerbody. Hackney trucks are more common on east coast.

Mine has long flat one-piece fenders. There are a few of these on the interweb, mostly west of the mississippi. Still dont know the body manufacturer's name. Anybody?

Thanks guys. Mine is not a Hackney, but some other freezer body maker.
Trying to figure out how to disassemble the freezer sheet metal for bodywork - looks like it is all one piece!?!

Doh! Found a brass plate on the freezer body:
WIN WARD
962 Price Street Pomona, California
Serial No. 1468

There is a graphic of a checkered flag between "Win" and "Ward"

Mr. Google found a couple references to Win-Ward Co. making custom bodies in the early 50s. Now inactive.
