I discovered that based on the serial number it is a '55.1 5 window. I used the tool on here to see what factory it came out of and stuff like that thanks to Achipmunk, but I am wondering what other resources are out there to give me insight on this truck i.e. how many were produced, what options were available, what options mine had upon production, etc.
My plan was to drop a 350/th350/Ford 9" in the truck but if it is an extremely rare vehicle, I want to do it justice and bring it back original. I am working on engine/trans/rear end casting numbers to see if they are matching as well as I am not sure.
Any help/resources would be much appreciated.
Danny

One thing for sure is a 55.1 is more rare than 54 or earlier simply because they were only produced for part of a model year. My vote would be to restore it rather than restomod it.

I go to a lot of shows and have never seen a 55.1. Guys like me will be swarming around a restored one, and be totally beside themselves with disappointment to see one rodded out. Carl

Tim's website is devoted to all things 54 and 55 so you really want to familiarize yourself with http://www.1954advance-design.comFor general Advance Design era information you can peruse my site as well. But really, this forum and the Shop Tips section is THE goto resource. Anyone can chop and slice a vehicle. But to finesse an old treasure back to its original glory takes special talents and the reward goes beyond the hotrods. People really appreciate a good original, or with mild modernizations. My site has a seatbelt instruction among other things to help get you started getting it on the modern road. Good luck on your project! That was the truck I had as my first pickup! | | |
